Maureen Howard 2 years ago What a fantastic day this was. The weather could not have been more perfect for my Queensland visitors. The whole trip was full of interesting and historical information that kept us all spellbound. Going out to Hells Gates was really thrilling. The visit to Sarah Island was just amazing with our guide full of animation and 'funny' anecdotes about the era of convicts who lived there. The lunch served on the boat on our voyage back to Strahan was nothing short of absolutely sumptuous. Repeat servings were offered and taken especially the Salmon. A well planned and executed trip that will remain in our memories for many years to come. (Myself, a repeat visitor from 17 years previous, apart from a bigger boat, the original quality of the trip had not changed except to say that the trip reinforced what I already knew. Superb food, service (staff could not do enough for us) and timed just right. An absolute must for those who love the outdoors and the history of this fabulous area of Tasmania).
This cruise would be splendid on a clear and lovely day as there are many beautiful things to see

This cruise would be splendid on a clear and lovely day as there are many beautiful things to see. The food was very good and I liked the opportunity to get off the boat and go for a walk. It is definitely worth purchasing the window seats. The staff were very knowledgeable and willing to help.

When visiting Strahan taking a boat trip on Macquarie Harbour is a must
Clare Chapman 2 years ago

When visiting Strahan taking a boat trip on Macquarie Harbour is a must. The trip take 5 hours with very comfortable seats, superb commentary and a delicious lunch. Not only do you see the Gates of Hell, by passing through the harbour entrance, but you also travel up the Gordan River to the World Renowned temperate rainforest, and have time to visit and learn about Sarah Island. An experience not to be missed!

We had an absolutely amazing time on the Gordon River Cruise
Ozge Kaman 2 years ago

We had an absolutely amazing time on the Gordon River Cruise. The scenery was breathtaking. The cruise ship was very comfortable. The cruise itself was a little expensive for four people, but worth every penny. Be warned, the only mobile service provider is Telstra. If you are not Telstra be prepared to have no contact with anyone during your stay. Wifi is available. All in all, amazing.

This was a great cruise with my 4 & 10 year old children
Amanda 2 years ago

This was a great cruise with my 4 & 10 year old children. The food was great, although a complimentary cup of tea would be great. The landscape was stunning & easy to see and experience in the ship. Staff were very professional. However at 5 1/2 hours this is a very long day, especially with kids.

Amazing
Valerie Hutton 2 years ago

Amazing!! We did indulge and booked on the Captain's deck, where we were very spoiled by the views, service and food. The day, weather wise, was perfect, we learned so much of our history most of it unknown to us - Yes! we are Australians (sad I know). The beauty of the river and the countryside was breath-taking, enjoyed every second of our day. The whole experience is etched into our memories as one of those occasions in life where you have had a 'magic' day. Highly recommend to anyone considering taking this cruise.

We hoped to have a bright
Christopher 2 years ago

We hoped to have a bright, sunny day for our river cruise, but that didn't happen. However, we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise, most particularly the Sarah island walk with the splendidly informed guide, who gave us the information in such a splendidly dramatic, amusing and erudite manner. All the staff on the boat were very pleasant, well organised, knowledgeable, and helpful. The young lady who gave a running commentary and who guided us on the rain forest tour, added great value to the experience. The lunch was very well displayed and fine to eat, though it would have been great to get a free tea or coffee afterwards.

We were up with the birds on a chilly morning
Ian 2 years ago

We were up with the birds on a chilly morning, at the dock were we were boarded very quickly, the vessel was warm and comfortable, we window seats with great views, the windows could have been cleaned, the staff were informative and courteous and made it their business to instruct about safety features and were to access them from. The trip itself combined with the meals exceeded expectations, well worth going highly recommended.

Book your tickets well in advance to upgrade your tickets from standard atrium seating to Captains Premier Upper Deck or Premium Window Recliner.
